George Winget

I was born and raised in a small town of about 100 people; our family accounted for 10 of those. I have three brother and 4 sisters. I am the 7th child of Robert (deceased) and Marie Winget.

I graduated from Whitewater State University with a major in Accounting. It was at Whitewater that I met Jan Nelson. We married on Sept. 23, 1972 and have two married children: Kerri (Todd and 1 yr old daughter Katelyn), and David (Megan).

I’ve worked at Snap-on Inc. for 35 years and plan retirement by June 30, 2008. While traveling for Snap-on I experienced the Mexico City 8.5 Richter Scale earthquake on Sept 19, 1985. It still is as vivid in my memory as the day it happened.

My Masonic heritage begins with my joining the Nelson family. I became a Mason as a result of the Kitchen (dishwashing) talks with Jan’s dad, Warren. I was raised on Dec. 3, 1973; and initiated into O.E.S. on February 7, 1974. I have served in the East or West for at least 28 years; and have been Master of the Lodge three times. I also served as the Associate Grand Guardian for Wisconsin Job’s Daughters in 1985-1986.

I served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard in an aviation company serving as a Flight Operations Specialist for 6 years.

In my Church, I have served as a Deacon and as a Church Moderator, sing in our infrequent choir, read scriptures, and often take parts in Sunday School Christmas pageants.

Gardening, both vegetable and flower gardens, and lawn care take up pretty much of the rest of the time.
