Rosemary (Rosie) Ann Fiscus

I was born in Beaver Dam Wisconsin on February 19. I was the third and middle child of Harvey & Evelyn Menke. I have two older sisters, a younger brother and sister. I grew up on a beef & turkey farm in Green Lake County and was involved in 4-H from age 9-18. I raised and showed sheep, pigs & steers at the County and State Fair. I was involved in the Junior Leadership program. I also belonged to Job’s Daughters

I graduated from Markesan High School and then attended UW-LaCrosse. I met my husband Dave and we were married on April 4, 1970. We moved to Oregon, Wisconsin in 1973 where my husband had a physical education teaching job. Between raising kids and working, we finished our education, his masters and my undergraduate degree. I graduated from UW-La Crosse with a degree in Recreational Leadership in August 1976.

I have two children, both boys. Scott has two children, Alyson 15 and Jake 14. They live in Nashville. Scott is an Ocularist (makes prosthetic eyes). Brian and his wife Alora have four children: Xavier, 10; Alexandra 9, Elizebeth 6 and Victoria 6 months. Brian is in the Coast Guard, as of July 1st he will be stationed at Cheboygan Michigan on the USS Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw. However, he does move every three-four years, so we have new areas of the country to visit.

My husband, being a teacher had the summer months off. We would take a family camping trip every summer. Our biggest trip was in 1985. We tent camped for five weeks. We traveled through Canada and the Northwestern United States. We had 21 different campsites and stayed in a motel for 3 nights. We love to travel - we spent a month in New Zealand in February of 2006. I have traveled in all but six of the 50 US States.

I retired from State Service in March of 2005 after 26 years of working for the Dept. of Health & Family Services, Dept. of Administration & the Dept. of Commerce. In my spare time I like to golf, bowl, read, walk, travel, play games, knit, ride motorcycle, surf the Internet and visit grandkids.

I joined Eastern Star in 1968 in Markesan and transferred my membership to Oregon #49 in 1979. I have been Adah, Associate Conductress, Associate Matron, Worthy Matron and a Grand Representative for BC & Yukon 2005-2007. My Mother is PGM Evelyn Menke and I have traveled with her to 4 General Grand Chapters and in October of 2005 we did a three state trip to Grand Chapters in Missouri, Oklahoma and New Mexico. I also was able to attend BC Grand Chapter the end of May 2005.

Some fun facts: My favorite food is Pasta & Coconut Shrimp. My favorite book (and movie) is “Gone With the Wind”. My favorite drink is water, and my favorite colors are pink and yellow. If I was marooned on an island and could only have two things, I would have a scrabble game and hand held Yatzee game & I would like to be marooned with George Clooney. My favorite songs are “Bob Seiger, Old Time Rock N Roll” and Stepen Wolf “Born to be Wild”. My favorite TV Show is “ER”. And two things I want to do before I die: Walk across the Mackinaw Island Bridge on Labor Day weekend, and dance at all six of my grandchildren’s weddings.
